Description:
Tranquil, clean, green lifestyle farm on 2,900 acres of the highest grade Biodynamic organic land, in the exquisite rolling hills in the Quindanning Valley. It has been farmed using bio-dynamic organic methods for over a quarter of a century. There are four houses, two that are stone. The stone cottage is located on the Williams River at "Boraning" the home of the Newton-Wordsworth family. The cottage was built in 1845 as one of two garrisons for soldiers on the original track between Swan River Colony (Perth) and King George's Sound (Albany). It was located near a ford on the Williams River, which can still be seen today. The original settlement was known as "Williamsburgh". Later when the Albany Highway was rerouted the settlement moved to the town of Williams, but the cottage remains as the oldest building in the area, and an important piece of Western Australian history. There are hundreds of cattle, sheep and horses. There are extensive orchards that consist of olive trees, pistachios, native, poplars, oaks and trees from all over the world. There is a lake with an island in the middle and many dams. There are gravel roads and the Williams river and streams running through the land. There are numerous old sheds including classic shearing sheds. On "Boraning" near the Cottage is the Bio-dynamic and Organic Farm Shop and Cafe, and the Christian Community Centre. The family are green pioneers, not only in biodynamic farming, but also in the move away from monoculture in modern agriculture to creating a diverse range of products and activities on the land. One of these businesses is Williams River Produce which is committed to clean, healthy agricultural methods and to producing the highest quality foods. Near the Cottage there is also a horse training centre, as The Newton-Wordsworth Family breed and train horses for the Olympic Sport of Eventing and general riding. Facilities - 70m x 40 m riding and training area, including dressage arena and show jumps, with an excellent all weather surface. - 16m round yard ideal for young horses, safe surface and 2.5m high. - Magnificent farm riding out areas – rolling hills, creek crossings, rivers etc. The property has hosted productions in the past.
