Description:Shay Gap was an iron ore mining town in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 1,335 kilometres (830 mi) north-northeast of Perth and 165 kilometres (103 mi) east of Port Hedland. The countryside leading into and away from Shay Gap is quite rugged and spectacular. Shay Gap is a 2 hour drive east of Port Headland. Port Headland is a 2 hour flight or 18 hour dive north of Perth.
