Description:Wyalkatchem is located 2hrs 26 mins (192 kilometres/ 119 miles) east north east of Perth and 35 kilometres east of Dowerin in the central wheatbelt region. The town has a resident population of about 350 and contains a Cooperative Bulk Handling receival point capable of holding nearly 120,000 tonnes of grain and other crops. The town also contains a medical centre, a community resource centre, a post office, a high school, a supermarket, a swimming pool, a visitor centre, a hotel, a caravan park, a roadhouse, two filling stations, two museums, a motor mechanic, a hospital, a library, a newsagency, a nursing home, a vet, plus the shire offices. The primary industries in the area are wheat and sheep farming, plus a gypsum mine is located nearby.
