Description:
Kalgoorlie is the major city in the eastern goldfields region, and is located 596 km east north east of Perth. A rich gold find was made in June 1893. It was gazetted a townsite in September 1894. The find soon led to a gold rush with thousands of diggers prospecting the rich alluvial field. The first "official" burial took place in Kalgoorlie in 1896, with "unofficial" burials taking place in 1894 - 1895. There are more than 20,000 burials recorded to present
