Description:This Neo-Gothic building started its life in the 1860s as a convict-built lunatic asylum. Over its 150 years the limestone building has also served as a US Navy Submarine depot during WWII, a Women's Home, a technical college and a museum. The building was restored in the late 1960s using locally sourced material to ensure the architectural integrity of the building.
Usage Restriction:Fremantle Arts Centre’s grounds are not available for photography bookings. The grounds are open to the public from 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week and anyone is welcome to visit and take non-commercial photographs if they wish. Photography is permitted inside the building. FAC will consider applications to use the grounds for feature film, TV or commercial photography on a case-by-case basis.
