Description:Just 9 minutes from central Broome, Cable Beach is a 22 kilometre-long stretch of pure white sand, set against a backdrop of red ochre cliffs and fringed by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, with spectacular sunsets. At the southern end of Cable Beach is Gantheaume Point where at low tide, you can see 130-million-year-old dinosaur footprints.
Usage Restriction:Native title is the recognition by Australian law that some Indigenous people have rights and interests to the land that come from their traditional laws and customs. It falls into two categories: Exclusive and Non-Exclusive and there are fees associated with accessing these areas as well as employing a Cultural Liaison Officer (CLO) for the duration of the shoot (their job is advisory but also to ensure that sites and areas of significance are appropriately navigated). Cable Beach falls within Rubibi Native Title. The relevent Indigenous Corporation and/or representative needs to be approached and dialogue established. This should as often as possible in person as it will usually require meeting the elders in person at a monthly board meeting. While telephone and/or email is fine for making the initial approach, it is not good practice and subsequently a face to face is usually mandatory.
