Location ID: #10309325
S Leeuwin Ocean Adventure, based in Fremantle, operates the iconic STS Leeuwin II, Australia’s largest purpose‑built sail training tall ship. Launched in 1986 and designed in the style of an 1850s sailing vessel, the ship is 55 metres (180 ft) in length, 33 metres (108 ft) to the main mast, and carries 16 sails across 810 sqm of canvas. Expansive timber decks, sails, ropes, and classic maritime detailing, the vessel offers a visually rich and authentic nautical setting. The ship can convincingly double for historical, contemporary, or international maritime environments, with multiple filming areas available across open decks, internal cabins, navigation spaces, and rigging. Location is set against the working port and coastal backdrop of Fremantle. Access to crew expertise and controlled scheduling allows filming to be negotiated around the organisation's core programs. Full crew capacity of 55. Day sails, multi-day voyages, and private function charter are available.
Located at Fremantle's Victoria Quay, approximately 32 km (20 mi) southwest of Perth CBD and 19 km (12 mi) from Perth Film Studios. Fremantle's inner-harbour precinct provides a dense maritime streetscape with warehouses, heritage facades, and working port infrastructure within immediate proximity.
Leeuwin Ocean Adventure is operated by the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation Limited.
