Australia / Fremantle, Western Australia
Location ID: #10280735
The former site of the Adelaide Steamship House. The building, constructed from 1900 and 1947 and is built in a Federation Warehouse/Free Classical style and reinforces the architectural character (townscape) of the historic West End precinct of Fremantle. The building has Italianate stucco details.
The Adelaide Steamship Company contributed to the development of shipping to ports around Australia. During the goldboom at the turn-of-the-century, the company played a significant role as one of the major national shipping companies in Western Australia, and Fremantle in particular.
The building is now home to a cafe specialising in fresh pasta and sauces made daily.
