Coolup is a small town situated off the South Western Highway only 10 minutes from Pinjarra. The area was first settled in 1886 and the townsite was gazetted in 1899. The town’s name is of Indigenous Australian origin and is thought to mean the place of the wild turkey.
Predominantly a farming area, Coolup is also known for its equestrian facilities; home to the Murray Regional Equestrian Centre
