Injidup Beach & Cape Clairault
Australia / Yallingup, Western Australia
Location ID: #10104932
The main Injidup beach (WA 706) commences on the western side of the small point and curves round to the northeast then north for 1.6 km to Mitchell’s Rock (Fig. 4.142), a 200 m long north-south ridge of bedrock that forms the northern end of the beach. Waves average about 1 m at the southern end increasing to 1.5 m at the rock. The beach responds with a low tide terrace along the southern half, grading into a wider bar with a few rips towards the north. A few rocks are also located along the southern and centre of the beach. Waves breaking over the southern rock during higher swell produce the Car Park and Pea Break surf breaks. Vegetated slopes back the southern half as far as the car park, with a more unstable foredune against the backing slopes up to the rock. Cape Clairault forms the southern arm of the bay.
