Located on the South Coast highway, the owners rehabilitated the land. A series of drains were designed and located to collect and direct the surface water run off from the catchment into the dams they had constructed. This overcame the problem of water logging. At the same, they initiated a major tree-planting programme, whereby various species of Eucalypt and deep-rooted perennials that were well adapted to the area were planted along deep creek lines. These plantings lowered the water table and thus transferred the salt deep into the ground.
Once the planting programme was well established, Mark and Debbie decided to involve their clients by planting a tree for each bottle of Diamondtina they produced and this policy has continued since the production of the first Diamondtina in 1991. It is now 25 years since the Noacks initiated their ambitious rehabilitation scheme and evidence of its success can be seen throughout their property. The creeks are now fresh, whereas they used to be very salty, and numerous native plants and trees, such as Bullrushes, Boronias, orchids, tee trees and Acacias once again enrich the landscape.
