Abbey Creek Wines

Australia / Porongurup, Western Australia
Location ID: #10097146

Abbey Creek Vineyard is the family-owned boutique vineyard of Mike and Mary Dilworth, situated on the northern slopes of the Porongurup Range in the Great Southern wine region of Western Australia, with two boundaries with the Porongurup National Park. The Porongurup Range itself is Pre-Cambrian, with the gravelly loam soils of the vineyard derived from its erosion and outwash.
The view from the vineyard across the Kalgan plain to the Stirling Range to the north is breathtakingly beautiful in its many moods.
The vineyard is typically cool climate, with annual rainfall of about 800 mm, cool frost-free winters and mild to warm summer temperatures.
The cellar door is a restored farm shed which did service as a milking shed and then a shearing shed, verified by shearers’ scores chalked on the old water-stained weatherboards.
