Horizontal Falls
Australia / Derby, Western Australia
Location ID: #10083603
The Horizontal Waterfalls are a unique and amazing feature of the Kimberley’s. Within Talbot bay in the Buccaneer Archipelago are a series of narrow coastal gorges. Intense tidal currents surge through these gorges causing a natural phenomenon resembling a flat waterfall.
There are two close gorges, one 20 metres apart and the other, more spectacular one, 10 metres apart. The waterfalls are surrounded by beautiful hills and ridges which are attractions in their own right. If not observing the waterfalls or its surroundings it is possible to take a boat trip through these narrow gorges. This remarkable spectacle can be seen by air through a sea plane that then lands in the waters of the bay or by boat.
