Quoin Head
Australia / Albany, Western Australia
Location ID: #10083449
A tantalising variety of landscapes to explore from rolling plains, colourful breakaways, rugged peaks and headlands to stunning bays and inlets. Quoin Head beach is a 300 m long pocket beach and foredune that partly dams an elongate V-shaped valley, forming a narrow 200 m long lagoon, which occasionally breaks out across the northern end of the beach. The beach is 300 m long and bordered by jagged rock platforms and backing steep 50 m high headlands. Its southeast orientation and the headland afford moderate protection resulting in waves averaging less than 1.5 m. These break across a 50 m wide surf zone, which is drained by a permanent rip against the northern rocks.
