This Neo-Gothic building started its life in the 1860s as a convict-built lunatic asylum. Over its 150 years the limestone building has also served as a US Navy Submarine depot during WWII, a Women's Home, a technical college and a museum. The building was restored in the late 1960s using locally sourced material to ensure the architectural integrity of the building.
